Watching my colleague Fran Torres, I realized that I also turned one year old on May 5, 2023 in the Official WordPress Plugins Team. And I would like to remember how this year of revisions has also been. And it seems like yesterday when I started in the Plugin team and I received the invitation email from Álvaro.
In this time, I have managed to send 3,195 emails, almost most of them with code reports, more than 600 approved and the Hostinger will be especially from 2024, when Hostinger will sponsor my time within the Five for the Future program, together with Paco Marchante, and set in the calendar some fixed weekly hours for this task.
Within the team many things are done, mostly:
- Review code, and how plugins that want to appear in the official directory work.
- Check the interface of the plugins, to ensure that they comply with the lines marked by the community.
- Propose improvements in the team’s internal tool to better detect security incidents.
- Propose improvements to the public tool, Plugin Check Plugin, available to developers and which improves auto-detection.
- Participate in events for a better knowledge of development and help Developers improve their programming.
The review that cost me the most has been one that has taken me the maximum of 14 emails, because it is a strange interface and we had to help it change it so that it complied with the directives.
Without a doubt, it has been an exciting year, with a lot of work but satisfaction with the work I am doing.
I hope to have a few more years in this team!
