I&#8217;ve been contributing to WordPress for two years now in the <a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/plugins\/\">Plugins team<\/a>. For those who don&#8217;t know this team, we are the ones who watch over the security and <a href=\"https:\/\/developer.wordpress.org\/plugins\/wordpress-org\/detailed-plugin-guidelines\/\">following of some directives<\/a> that ensure a healthy ecosystem. I already did a <a href=\"https:\/\/davidperezgar.com\/blog\/cumplo-mi-primer-aniversario-en-el-equipo-de-plugins-de-wordpress\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"4006\">summary of my first year<\/a>, and it seems like more time has passed since then, but it&#8217;s only been one year!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of all I have to thank the <a href=\"https:\/\/hostinger.es\/\">sponsorship of Hostinger<\/a> all this year, which sponsors the hours I put in weekly on the team. For me <strong>I think it is key in the popularity of Frameworks<\/strong>, to make them extensible and customized to the needs of each project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And most plugins can be installed from the official WordPress repository, which our team is responsible for. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Many_many_many_revisions\"><\/span>Many, many, many revisions!!!<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I will soon reach 6,000 Plugin reviews done during the time I am sponsored by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hostinger.com\/es\/hosting-wordpress\">Hostinger<\/a> (2024-2025). Without the collaboration it would be impossible to be so dedicated to the team for so long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/davidperezgar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/chart.png\" alt=\"Chart\" class=\"wp-image-4189\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s a mentally exhausting job, and being my second job, it sometimes costs a little more. But always proud of the work and the results we&#8217;re getting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Lectures_in_which_I_have_participated\"><\/span>Lectures in which I have participated<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, I have also had time to prepare different talks in WordCamps (WordPress conferences) and Meetups, whose purpose is always to share knowledge and help other developers to improve their tools. We got a special mention thanks to the advancements in the tools we use to review Plugins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They were used by Matt Mullenveg (WordPress Co-Founder) at the annual event where we do a review of the WordPress project and future developments. The Plugins team was largely forgotten, but for this event we did get our mention. It was a great thrill. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sentence we helped to prepare was as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\" style=\"font-size:16px\"><blockquote><p>Since we launched, we&#8217;re seeing 41% fewer issues approved per approved plugin. And teams are approving 138% more Plugins every week. This initiative of the <a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/plugins\/2022\/07\/05\/proposal-for-a-wordpress-plugin-checker\/\">Performance team<\/a>, was created in 2022, and was not made official until 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-plugin-directory wp-block-embed-plugin-directory\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"h6wSh8JL5j\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/plugin-check\/\">Plugin Check (PCP)<\/a><\/blockquote><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"&#8220;Plugin Check (PCP)&#8221; &#8212; Plugin Directory\" src=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/plugin-check\/embed\/#?secret=gyJXu3bkIG#?secret=h6wSh8JL5j\" data-secret=\"h6wSh8JL5j\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Since April last year, seeing that the plugin was not progressing, I got involved to review the Pull Requests that were pending, as they needed a second reviewer to finish validating them, and help perform checks that were already done in our internal Scanner, which is mostly taken care of by <a href=\"https:\/\/frantorres.es\/\">Fran Torres<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was a bit of a tortuous path at first, as my role was not understood, which was to help and unlock development. I saw a need to unlock several months of work on the main part of Nilambar and the Performance team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My work has been primarily focused on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Audit all the checks we perform in our Internal Scanner and review which ones can go in the public tool.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Learn the workflow of the plugin. This cost me quite a bit, as I learned to development with Unitary Tests and BEHAT, and Trunk Based Development.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create the tasks to perform checks by the team.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Propose and advance requirements for wordpress.org to be published<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-e0774b6a gb-headline-text gb-headline-bad076e0\">And we got it published on <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/developers\/add\/\">wordpress.org\/plugins\/developers\/add\/<\/a> on September 17th<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once we got thanks to Chris at WordCamp US, we got the plugin supported so that all submissions to the directory were automatically audited by PCP. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And so, I created the following entry explaining how PCP worked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-make-wordpress-plugins wp-block-embed-make-wordpress-plugins is-type-wp-embeded\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"W0ezKOEPdZ\"><a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/plugins\/2024\/09\/17\/introducing-plugin-check-pcp\/\">Introducing Plugin Check (PCP)<\/a><\/blockquote><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"&#8220;Introducing Plugin Check (PCP)&#8221; &#8212; Make WordPress Plugins\" src=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/plugins\/2024\/09\/17\/introducing-plugin-check-pcp\/embed\/#?secret=mJsVYaWbfy#?secret=W0ezKOEPdZ\" data-secret=\"W0ezKOEPdZ\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Item_Closing_Year_2024\"><\/span>Item Closing Year 2024<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As I love statistics, I prepared a review of all the reviews done by the whole team during this year 2024. I created an internal tool together with Fran, which analyzes mail conversations with users to see the issues we have detected.
